Kitchen Renovations can be an overwhelming process depending on the extend of the work to be done in your home. The biggest challenge is being without a sink, dishwasher, disposal, and range, for the duration of the project. This should be considered in the planning process- how you will live in your home while under construction.
As we get ready for our own Kitchen (and bathroom ) Renovation, I am faced with consolidating my spaces and relocating them to a temporary location next to the washer and dryer in the basement. Not ideal but it is the only place with a sink. This has been anxiety producing to say the least. As I pack up my kitchen belongings, my focus or mantra has been on simplifying. How many plates and glasses will we really need to reduce washing? Which pots and pans get used most frequently? What type of meals will I create and what do I need handy to support this? My goal is to cook normally during this time so we are not living off frozen pizzas and take out.
I am finding that large, clear tupperware bins are my salvation, so I can see what is located with in them. Having stacked storage near my temporary kitchen will also make this accessible and give me some horizontal places to spread out on. The more organized I am at the beginning, I know will pay off during and after the project is complete.
Tune in next week for the start of the project.
