Interior Design is one of the exclusive services provided at Inner View, based in Madison, WI. Jodie Amerell, lead interior designer, provides a unique approach to interior design and offers a step by step approach to your project.
When considering to work with Jodie for your interior design needs, often the first thing that is recommended is to get clear on what your priorities are for your home. A great question to ask is “What do you want to achieve or complete when working with an interior designer?”. Starting a journal or notebook with your thoughts and writing down your top three priorities for your home is a great way to get clear on what you want. This starts the conversation on what is to be worked on in your home and is the place to build on. Many times, clients that have invited Jodie into their home do not know exactly what they want, but with these beginning questions they start to get clear and are able to describe their needs and dreams with Jodie.
Interior design services vary per client. The most common interior design services have been paint color consultations for walls and furniture placements for a room. Usually a client is looking for how to best use and complete a room in their house, most common is a living room area, and are looking for the big picture. Jodie calls this a interior design plan for a room, and it includes colors, placement, furniture sizes and styles, type of support furniture, addressing lighting, windows and art. The second most common interior design services are room planning for kitchens, bathrooms, basements. Often, these areas are needing to be updated with new finishes or plans to remodel are in the works. Jodie provides the overall plans for these areas and assists with the selection of the materials to be used. The same process is used with each client regardless if it is a paint color for the wall or if it is kitchen design plan.
Once the priorities are established and the type of interior designer services are decided on, the next step to complete is a homework assignment. In this quick and easy assignment, you start getting clear on what your tastes, tendencies and patterns are. These will show up as colors, shapes, textures, and contrasts. Seeing these patterns gives you and Jodie insight into who you are, what you love, what your gravitate towards and provides good information for making customized solutions to your situation.
Meetings with Jodie can vary from a one meeting to three or four meetings. Typically Jodie will meet with you regarding your project three different times, the first to gather information, the second to present ideas, and the third to follow up on those ideas and create the implementation plan.
