So how do you determine what is best for your home and how do you improve the overall design and feeling of the kitchen regardless of your budget.
Well this is where working with an interior design can give you great insight and save you money for a kitchen project. The following guidelines are some of the tools and tips I use with clients to help focus and plan their projects. Just know, if this gets overwhelming, our company is here to assist you with the processes.
A good place to start is to ask Three Key Questions:
- Why am I updating/ changing this space?
- What is my #1 Priority with this project?
- How much do I/we want to invest?
Next, make a list of the following items regarding your Kitchen:
- Things outdated and worn
- Items that need a home
- Your daily patterns of cooking, cleaning, and using the space
- What you love about the space currently
- What has to stay
Finally, I recommend the following exercises:
Exercise Part One: Do the Collage Exercise for the Kitchen.
Exercise Part Two: Assess your collage.
Exercise Part Three: Assess your space.
Exercise Part Four: Look for what is missing. Look for color, shape, material, texture, contrast.
