“I am painting my living room and want to know where I should put an accent color?”
This is a common question I hear at my paint color seminars. To decide the best place for an accent color on a wall in any room, start first with how you use that area and how you approach that room. Ask- “Where is the first place i am looking as I enter a room?” Usually this becomes the best place for a focal wall- or place for accent colors. Another way to determine the best wall for an accent color is to look at your room usage and determine which wall is the backdrop to the activities in the room. This wall becomes a great place for an accent color or a darker accent color to be painted so that it enhances the activities of the room. As an accent, it sets the stage, supporting the activities occuring in the room.
